I decided to try sequencing the Prelude from Bach’s Cello Suite No. 2, which I’m currently practicing. Interestingly, as I closely re-examine the score with this in mind, I’m beginning to notice the structure of the notes in ways I hadn’t paid attention to when simply practicing.
A long time ago, a little after I started cello lessons, my teacher told me that it was time to start working on Bach's Unaccompanied Suites. I was surprised at the progress I had made since then, when I was just chasing the melody of the prelude while saying "Solesile, Solesile, Solesile" and "Solesile, Solesile, Solesile".
In fact, I have been playing Beethoven's piano sonatas mainly in midi for the past several years, and I feel that I have been able to produce a more musical sound compared to the beginning, thanks to the training of a pianist friend of mine who has been teaching me. I wonder if my musical brain is growing a little.
However, as I mentioned earlier, midi playing of solo strings is technically quite challenging. I am currently working on Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 9, Kreutzer, at the same time. Above all, it is difficult to find a sound source that comes close to the sound quality of a live violin. If anything, the cello sound is more lifelike.
