In fact, since I started learning the choro, Bach's unaccompanied choro suite is the "Old Testament" of the cello,
I learned that Beethoven's cello sonata is called the "New Testament". Now that I see it, I wonder if that is indeed what it is....
There are up to 6 unaccompanied cellos, but I have been playing from 1 to 3, repeatedly, at the beginning of my daily practice for more than 15 years. I'm just now getting started with the Kreutzer, and I've decided to start playing the unaccompanied cello for my cello studies.
When I tried it, I realized that I should have started working on it earlier. I used to play only roughly, but now, as I play one note at a time, the composition of the piece comes to the surface in detail. I decided to take this opportunity to play each note from a new perspective.
