How about Schubert? My musical advisor recommended him, so I sequenced D.935, Op.142-1 from 4Impromptus. I listened to several pianists play it while following the score. But it took me quite a while to get to the point where I could say, "This is how I would like to play it."
I thought I had done my best and asked my teacher to listen. Then, my music advisor said, "Why don't you listen to Maria João Pires first?"
At that moment, I knew mine wasn’t good enough.
When I listened to her performance, I was amazed by her rich tone and powerful touch. It was truly impressive.
As a result, I decided to go back and revise my performance from scratch.
I wonder if I managed to achieve some depth in the sound I was aiming for. There are a few spots where the pedal resonance bothers me a bit, so I'll adjust them later.
Some scores do not have the repeated part in the middle, but I prefer to repeat it because it makes me feel more comfortable.
