Beethoven Piano Sonata No.32 (Revised 2)

It took quite a bit of time, but as a result of my review, I have finally completed Beethoven's final piano sonata, No. 32.

I entered the world of DTM to try my hand at Beethoven's Piano Sonata, but I was unable to create the sound I wanted on a technical level.... I was also faced with the problem of my low level of musical ability. Fortunately, I found a good teacher and learned music theory little by little! On the other hand, I gradually began to understand how to produce the sound I wanted, albeit from a technical standpoint. In the midst of all this, I was first to tackle No. 32, which my teacher was going to play in a recital. That was about five years ago. After that, I reviewed it once about three years ago, and this is the second time I'm reviewing it.

My advisor also took on this work in earnest, and it took more than four months to complete. In terms of difficulty, aside from No. 29—which stands in a class of its own—this Sonata No. 32 seems to be among the most challenging, both technically and interpretively. One of the main issues lies in how to bring out the striking contrast between the first movement in C minor and the second movement in C major. In particular, the opening of the second movement itself became a subject of study. How should one interpret the marking “Adagio molto semplice e cantabile” written at the beginning of the second movement, and how should it be connected to the previous movement? When I simply tried to render it in a calm and flowing manner, the result felt rather flat, and I struggled quite a bit to give it character and depth. Compared with my previous work, I believe this performance has reached a considerably higher level of refinement. What do you think?
