I’m currently working on No. 28. It’s said to be one of the more difficult pieces among Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas. I struggled to get my musical ladvosor’s approval, but I finally managed to upload the first movement. This piece is likely to take quite a long time as well. The challenges of mastering piano performance and programming MIDI are completely different. For example, in live piano playing, slight timing differences caused by fingering—especially when reaching for distant keys—can add a natural expressiveness to the performance. With MIDI, we tend to input everything evenly without considering real piano fingering. However, my teacher explained this to me over Skype while demonstrating the fingering.
