Small Talk-22 Bach Goldberg Variations, Aria

I am sequencing the Aria from the Goldberg Variations as a trio of violin, viola, and cello. I am using the score arranged for string trio by Sitkovetsky . However, I have restored the slurs in the violin part, which were partially omitted by my music advisor's suggestion. The reason for this is because of the great cello master Anna Bylsma's insistence that "Bach's slurs should be faithful to the originals...(from "Bach, Classical music and Cello, Anna Bylsma Speaks"

When I started playing the cello and became able to tackle Bach's cello suites, I learned that there are various notations for the slurs in the Prelude No. 1. I was perplexed, wondering what to do, and once asked my lesson teacher about it.

The idea of returning to the original score seems to be shared by many musicians. It is also mentioned in Yoko Nakamura's book The Truth of Classical Music Lies in the Autograph Manuscripts of Great Composers!
