I have been listening again to the "Piano Sonata No. 8" that I had performed before, in order to burn it to CD. First of all, I would like to talk about the fp, which is indicated in the symbolic chord from the beginning of the first movement. Last time, I had a great deal of consideration about how to express this fp using DAW and the piano sound library. When I listened to it again, I found that one more improvement was needed, and my music advisor also gave me a negative answer. He made a interesting advice that the sound decay should be modeled after the descending curve of the "Eiffel Tower". This time, without too much complicated processing in the DAW (Cubase Pro), the volume was slowly reduced with the pedal depressed to the level of p earlier than the original volume of the sound source.
Second, I thought that the 16th-note chords in succession in the left hand in the first and second movements might be a bit too much, so I tried to suppress them considerably.
As I mentioned before, the title of this No. 18, "Pathétique" is translated into Japanese as "Hisou:sad and unfortunate things" but I don't feel any tragedy in this music. I feel more of an overflowing enthusiasm. Don't you think so?
