I’ve completed my second CD, featuring three of Beethoven’s most celebrated works: Pathetique, Moonlight, and The Tempest. These were pieces I had previously cequenced, but this time I revisited them under the discerning supervision of my musical advisor.
It’s a fascinating experience - though at the time I believed I had shaped them well enough, my advisor’s guidance invariably reveals subtleties I had overlooked. Each correction brings a moment of quiet reflection: Ah, so that’s how it should be…
This revision took even more time than my first attempt. Beneath the surface of the score lies a wealth of emotion and unspoken thought, often left unsaid even by the composer. Beyond the technical skills expected of any performer, it’s in unearthing these hidden sentiments that interpretation truly lives. And in that delicate process, one’s own emotions and sensibilities quietly shape the choices made along the way.
