Time flies, and I’m almost 80. For quite some time now, I’ve made it a daily habit to work on sequencing classical music every morning.
With guidance from my musical advisor, exchanging ideas online (essentially an online lesson), I’ve been steadily refining my skills.
However, for some time now, my annual health check has been showing a decline in my hearing at higher frequencies. In practical terms, the only real inconvenience so far is that I have trouble hearing the small beeping sound of a thermometer (~4000 Hz).
The highest pitch a violin can produce is said to be around C8 (4186 Hz), so for typical music sequencing, it hasn’t caused any major issues. However, as we age, sensitivity to certain frequency ranges tends to decrease, so I do find myself paying more attention to the volume balance of the higher notes.
For now, my mentor hasn’t pointed out any issues related to this, so I suppose I can consider it a non-issue—for the time being.
